Everyone talks about immutable data objects. Storing immutable data objects is only one of three lines of defense needed to recover from a ransomware attack.

ExaGrid Tiered Backup Storage provides all three lines of defense:

A second layer of data backup/protection storage that is not network oriented creates a Virtual AirGap so it is not visible to threat actors.
A Delay Deletes Policy – When data is deleted by the attacker from disk, deduplication devices, and even ExaGrid's network-facing Landing Zone, the data is not immediately deleted in ExaGrid's Retention Zone, which does not is network oriented. This allows you to freeze the ExaGrid system (Freeze) so that the delayed wipe will stop counting down, giving you time to recover (between 1-30 days depending on the user's equipment setting).
All current data stored with medium and long-term retention policies is deduplicated for cost and storage space savings, and all objects are immutable, meaning they will not be modified or deleted.

To truly ensure recovery, the most important functionality required is a non-network oriented layer ( AirGap ) with Delay deletes ( Delay deletes ). Immutable data objects are also crucial, but not sufficient by themselves.
