Progress Flowmon
The Progress Flowmon solution offers the ideal tools for monitoring communications on data networks. This solution can be combined with third-party devices (routers, switches, etc.) or use dedicated Progress Flowmon probes to capture, forward and collect data. This collected data can then be used either just for information about the communication on the monitored network or also for security analysis or application performance monitoring (HTTP, HTTPS and databases).
Progress Flowmon Product Overview
Progress Flowmon uses two types of devices for monitoring data networks - probes and collectors. Purchased add-on modules can be loaded onto a Progress Flowmon collector or hardware probe.
- Probes - are responsible for collecting data from the network. They are capable of monitoring up to 100Gb interfaces. Data is fed to the probe via port mirroring or TAP interface. They are also necessary for packet capture for traffic analysis or application performance measurement.
- Collectors - are the central storage of flow data (netflow, sFlow, TrafficStream, jFlow, etc.) and additional software modules are usually implemented here. Flow data can be sent from Progress Flowmon probes as well as from third-party devices.
- Add-on modules - extend the functionality of the Progress Flowmon solution. There are three types of modules:
- ADS (Anomaly Detection System ) - The behavioral analysis module is responsible for detecting security events in the network and can also detect misconfiguration of devices in the network. It can also be extended with Suricata signatures.
- APM (Application Performance Monitoring) - performance monitoring of web applications and databases.
- FPI (Progress Flowmon Packet Investigator) - a tool for packet capture and analysis. Collected data can be downloaded in pcap format and then analyzed in Wireshark.
