NetApp Announces Upgraded AFF-A Series and New StorageGrid Models
NetApp has unveiled the upgraded AFF-A range, the latest and most powerful, maximum performance models for the most demanding applications and artificial intelligence.
The new all-flash systems NetApp AFF A-Series, which are faster, more powerful, efficient and at the same time ready for AI technologies.
These all-flash, high-performance systems are designed for a new generation of workloads with different needs:
- AFF A70 model offering the best price-performance ratio.
- AFF A90 for high performance, ideal for critical workloads.
- AFF A1K the most powerful model, designed to handle the most demanding workloads.
The new AFF A-Series series offers up to twice better performance than the previous generation. The systems are full of innovation, but they retain the same simplicity and reliability that NetApp has been providing for years and trusted by tens of thousands of organizations of all sizes and in all sectors around the world.
The new models are designed for massive scaling and exceptional performance with up to 40M IOPS and throughput of up to 1TB/s in the cluster. With improved connectivity over 200Gb Ethernet and 64Gb Fibre Channel (FC), these systems are ready for quick data access and improved performance. Enhanced bandwidth with PCIe 5.0 and DDR5 memory significantly improves the read and write speed of data on the device, allowing for faster data transfer.
Thanks to Intel Quick Assist (Intel QAT) technology in the 4th generation of Intel Xeon processors, inline compression and data deduplication is always turned on, without impacting performance. These new models provide exceptional storage efficiency while maintaining the high performance required for critical workloads. For example, database applications run up to 44% faster and storage efficiency increases by 71%.
The new AFF A-Series systems are designed to be hyper-efficient and save space and energy in data centers. The intelligentism integrated in AFF A-Series, along with the unified ONTAP operating system, enables easy management, protection and mobility of data across the hybrid cloud. These systems speed up the entire business through AI-based automation and deep integration with NVIDIA and MLOps ecosystem.
New StorageGRID models
NetApp has also expanded its offering to include new StorageGRID devices that complement their unified AFF A-Series series storage. Here is a short overview of the individual models:
SG5812: is designed for businesses looking for an entry point into the world of object storage. It offers a capacity from 48TB to 264TB.
SG5860: cost-effective storage with a capacity of 240TB to 1.3PB, makes it ideal for critical object workloads.
SGF6112: offers a similar price per GB as previous models while providing up to 3x higher performance, taking up to 5x less space and reducing energy consumption by up to 70% for customers who have older disks.
SG6160: is designed for businesses that require uncompromising performance. It offers a capacity from 240TB to 4PB.
StorageGrid similes data management, increases security and accelerates the deployment of AI/ML and data lakes. Combating innovative devices from NetApp (SG5812, SG5860, SG6160 and SGF6112) and the new high-ava Available load-balancers (SG110 and SG1100), StorageGRID 11.8 represents a significant step forward in our journey to provide cutting-edge object storage that meets the diverse needs of today’s data-drivered businesses.
